AtScale is re-inventing the way that companies do Business Intelligence on top of Big Data. As a well-funded and growing start-up we are seeking an experienced and multi-talented Technical Writer to help lead our documentation and product training efforts. Your job will be to determine what information is needed to make AtScale customers successful, and then make it happen. You can help define the tools and processes needed to get it done.
The Senior Technical Writer at AtScale will ensure the flawless delivery of the following items:
Product Documentation: end-user facing documentation to enable the self service installation, configuration, utilization, and management of the AtScale Intelligence Platform.
Technical Deployment Guides: these documents ensure that customers, partners, and internal users can properly prepare and configure their environments for successful product installation.
Training: recorded, written, and in-person delivery of product training to end users and internal users.
AtScale Academy: development of a curriculum of training and thought-leadership materials related to the successful delivery of “BI-on-Hadoop”
In addition to the direct responsibilities above, the Senior Technical Writer will also be asked to contribute to company success in other ways:
Partner with product manager to help identify and file usability bugs/enhancements
Collaborate with Marketing as a whitepaper and blog author
5+ years of technical writing experience in enterprise software.
Excellent written and verbal English language skills.
Excellent content planning and organization skills.
The ability to act as information designer, project manager, writer, editor, and publisher.
The ability to quickly learn complex concepts and technologies and clearly explain them to others.
Knowledge or experience with creating documentation in an Agile development environment.
Knowledge or experience with structured authoring, preferably using DITA and Oxygen XML Editor.
Knowledge or experience with source control systems, preferably using GitHub.
Knowledge or experience with bug tracking systems, preferably using JIRA.
Not required, but strongly desired:
Knowledge or experience with video production software, such as Camtasia.
Previous experience documenting a data storage, data management, or data visualization software product.
Previous experience documenting a web application.
Previous experience writing documentation for system administrator and developer audiences.
Proficiency on Linux operating systems using the command-line.
Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem.
A good understanding of programming concepts, preferably with Java and/or Python.
